About Amy

“More than just having knowledge of the law, a judge needs to be able to faithfully apply it regardless of who is before them.”

— Amy Fitzpatrick

I was raised by an incredibly hardworking single mom. Growing up, I saw firsthand the challenges that come with financial insecurity, which motivated me to build a stable future for myself. After graduating law school, I joined a major law firm in San Francisco, where I handled complex civil litigation cases and found deep intellectual challenge in the work.  But one of the greatest rewards from my time in California was meeting my husband Mike, a Bucks County native.

Mike grew up in Holland and attended Archbishop Wood. When we decided to start a family, there was no question about where we wanted to raise our children—Bucks County. We moved to Northampton 15 years ago, drawn by our deep family ties here and the values we share with this wonderful community. Today, we have three children who attend our public schools. When I returned to work in Pennsylvania, I continued my legal career, this time representing health care clients for another major firm.

Then, everything changed. In November 2019, I lost my mother and, just months later, our daughter nearly lost her life. Those experiences reshaped my perspective and had a profound impact. I felt a deep calling to serve and give back. Leaving private practice to dedicate myself to being a public servant was the best decision I have ever made. It has made me a better lawyer, better mother, and has given me the privilege of serving our community these past 4.5 years.

I currently serve as County Solicitor. In that role I am the County’s chief civil legal officer, responsible for bringing and defending all cases on its behalf. I oversee a Law Department of ten attorneys and together we handle the County’s diverse legal needs. We represent the County, its agencies, and its departments in cases related to land use, civil rights, employment, contractual disputes, elections, premises liability, municipal law, and child welfare.

I care deeply about justice and the fair application of the law. I believe diversity of life and professional experience on the bench is critical to ensuring our courts best serve our community. Our judges need to be impartial and fair, acting with integrity. It’s not just about knowing the law—it’s about applying it faithfully, without bias, and communicating decisions clearly to provide guidance for the future.

Earning the public’s trust has been my greatest professional priority. With my experience analyzing complex legal issues, working across diverse areas of law, and earning the public confidence’s, I am ready to serve our community on the bench.
